Surrounded by neon lights and the flash of impatient cameras, the RadRace Last Man Standing saw the first meeting of our fixed gear crit calendar, and the first outing for our ELF+Huez* skin suit. Crowds lined the race track inching ever closer to the action, as the small go cart-like circuit packed rider and spectator alike into an intense, adrenaline-fuelled spectacle that made for a great atmosphere.
With such a tight circuit and little room for error, the event lived up to its reputation for being akin to playing rugby on a bike, as riders broadsided into each other in a bid to be the last man, or indeed woman, standing. Our team riders performed admirably, with Edgars charging through the heats even after a big fall left his chance of progressing in doubt.
After reaching the semi-finals and looking to be in a strong position, a dramatic crash saw Edgars knocked from his bike, narrowly escaping being gored by his handle bars. Needless to say our blood-pumping experience has left us thirsty for the start of the Red Hook Crit Series. With the first race just around the corner – taking place on 25th April in New York – we can’t wait to get the entire ELF+Huez* team out to kick off what is certain to be an electrifying start to the Crit season.
