You’re Cordially Invited
This summer join the Huez* Team and founder Lorenzo Curci as we attempt to complete the illustrious Granfondo Stelvio’s 48 hairpins and 2,757 metre ascent. This sportive will allow you to pit yourself against two legendary climbs and follow in the pedal strokes of some of the greatest icons of cycling.
Early summer mountain riding in one of Italy’s most beautiful regions, coupled with 4 star accommodation and famous local hospitality make this a hugely anticipated Huez* event.
Fly out on Thursday morning and transfer by coach to the 4* Palace Hotel, perfectly situated 500m from the foot of the Stelvio. Settle into your hotel and enjoy evening dinner with the team.
Friday 9th The Gavia Pass
Your bikes will be made available in the morning after breakfast in the hotel. Leaving 10.00 – 10.30 from our Bormio base, all riders can begin the trip with an exhilarating 15.15 mile ride up the Gavia, followed by a spin through the surrounding picturesque valleys.
After the ride, there will be plenty of time to explore the town and race village. We will meet for dinner in the hotel that evening.
After breakfast, at 10.00 we will head down to the race gazebo to sign on and collect your race numbers and starting pack. This is a great opportunity to soak up the electric atmosphere in town and enjoy a light lunch, or, for those feeling more intrepid, to join our guides for a 21k climb up Focango (13.42 miles).
The afternoon will be free for relaxation, making use of the hotel’s spa facilities and preparing for the race day. Before dinner in the hotel, you will receive a race briefing to ensure you are fully prepared for the challenge ahead.
Sunday 11th RACE DAY
Wake up to a hearty breakfast at our hotel to fuel your day’s challenge. The Huez* Team will ride out to the race start, arriving with plenty of time for a pre-race espresso. Huez* founder, Lorenzo, will be on hand to pass on some hard-earned wisdom for the climb and to escort you to your race positions. Riders have the option to complete the 60km, 131km or 151km distances. The race will be tough but hopefully incredibly enjoyable.
After the race, we will gather to enjoy post-race snacks and cold drinks. Following this we can check the results board, re-live our experiences from the climb and refuel at the event-organised ‘pasta party’ (cost not included). After lunch we will return to our hotel for a well-earned rest. We will have our last meal together in the hotel and then troop down into the town for some post-race celebrations.
Monday 12th DEPARTURE DAY
After breakfast, your bicycle will be packed up and made ready for the journey home. We will ready ourselves for the transfer back to the airport with a solid few days of riding in the legs. Catch flights back to London.
Our base for the weekend, The Palace Hotel, could not be better positioned to tackle the Granfondo Stelvio as it is situated a short distance from the famous climb. The hotel boasts an amazing wellness centre that will no doubt assist any muscle aches and pains post-ride.
Your bike transport is included in the price. There will be no need to box up or dissemble your bike as we will have a fully enclosed custom built bike trailer. We simply hang your bike up in the trailer. Just remove the seat post and disconnect the battery for those with electronic shifting.
